Good news – we have a date to move into the new Academy building

On Wednesday, 4th May the new building will be operationally ready; this means that we will be ready to receive students. There is much work to do between now and 4th May and we ask for your cooperation in this matter.
So that the staff can pack all the curriculum material to be moved and then unpack ready for 4th May, we have to make some adjustments to the school day and to the closure of the old building.

During the week 4th April to 8th April, all students will have their normal lessons at University Academy Keighley from 8.45 to 12.05. i.e lessons 1 to 3. All lessons at Holy Family will take place as normal. Lessons for students studying Law (Tuesday pm and Thursday pm) will take place at Keighley College.

During the week 11th April to 15th April, the University Academy Keighley will be closed.
All lessons at Holy Family will take place as normal and the Law lessons will take place at the college. Work will be set for students who will be missing lessons at UAK.
There will be an additional day closure on 3rd May for University Academy Keighley only, to allow staff to check that all the systems are working and that we are ready to receive students on Wednesday, 4th May. Again, Holy Family lessons will take place as usual.

On the 4th May, all students should arrive at the Academy for their normal lessons. We will then induct them into the building and the rules/protocols they will be working to. The Sixth Form Team will greet the students on arrival and direct them to the appropriate area.

We apologise for the shortness of time we are giving you to make the necessary arrangements, but we could not accept the new building until we were sure it was up to the required standard, and we hope that you understand this.

The Annual Balti Challenge Charity event was held on 28th February at the Balti House in Keighley involving restaurant manager Mohammed Zamir Hanif, Academy staff and members of the Academy’s UAK6 to raise nearly £800 for the Ibrahim Trust.

The Challenge which was coordinated by UAK6 students, Sajjad Ali and Sohail Tariq involved a team of 17 students who gave up their free time to prepare food, present the restaurant and turn their hand to ‘front of house’ duties, to ensure diners received a warm welcome. The evening, was attended by Academy staff, students, family and friends, and hosted by maître’d, Sajad Ali, with speeches from Head Boy, Ruhel Hussain, and Mr Zamir, who expressed the importance of the evening, to raise funds for the Ibrahim Trust. Well done everyone and thank you!
